How the Vision Reflects Alameda Residents' Input
|
The section on Commercial Services was added to the Alameda Point Vision to reflect the results of the Envisioning Alameda Point Survey. It showed more support for having retail stores in Alameda Point appeal to Alamedans from all over the city more than appealing only to Alameda Point Neighborhoods or regional shoppers from outside the city. Survey respondents were prompted to vote for as many options as they felt were appropriate and 32.74% of the votes cast were in favor of mom and pop shops being included in the retail stores at Alameda Point, while 21.57% of the votes were in favor of regional chain stores being included, and only 11.67% were in favor of national chains. White collar/office jobs were voted for most for the type of commercial development that should be in Alameda Point, receiving 34.55% of the votes cast. Research and Development jobs came in second with 34.17% of the votes, while light industrial/trade jobs got only 31.27% of the votes. | Related Links: |
