The highest disapproval rate was for this type of building:

When the survey respondents were asked: “What other housing issues should be included in the vision?”, the most chosen answer was: “Variety of Housing Types”, which received 25% of the votes. According to the Visual Preference Survey, also, Alamedans would most like to see neighborhoods in Alameda Point that incorporate many different types of housing within each block. The type of neighborhood pictured in the survey which received the highest approval rate had mixed single-family homes with multi-family housing on the same block:

One resident commented on this picture saying, “A mixed neighborhood like this is ideal allowing people from the widest variety of backgrounds to share a neighborhood rather than be segregated into single family only or multifamily only neighborhoods.”

The second most chosen answer to the question “What other housing issues should be included in the vision?” was “Quality Planning and Design”. Therefore, the new vision includes this as a priority for Alameda Point, stating that “quality housing design is key to reflect Alameda’s unique character.”

The new vision furthermore states that Alameda Point should “include income as a factor in accommodating housing suitable to a variety of household types.” This was added to reflect the view of 79.31% of the survey respondents who agreed that housing types should allow for households of all income ranges to find appropriate homes in Alameda Point.
