How the Vision Reflects Alameda Residents' Input
When asked “What do you feel are the top 5 priorities for Alameda Point?”, Open Space was the most popular first choice. The new Alameda Point Vision was modified to include open space features such as bicycle and walking paths, waterfront access, urban public squares, passive nature parks and playgrounds. 93.31% of the Envisioning Alameda Point Survey respondents feel that the inclusion of biking/walking paths in the development of Alameda Point is very important. One Alamedan who participated in the survey said: “Easy walking/cycling near the wildlife-filled seashore is a prized feature of Alameda living.” 88.87% feel that waterfront access is very important. 71.13% strongly agreed that public squares and urban gathering places should be included at Alameda Point, 70.89% feel that passive nature parks are very important, and 51.27% feel that playgrounds are very important. 75.3% of the respondents said that recreation areas for kids like this should definitely be created at Alameda Point:
