Create a Model of Sustainability

How the Vision Reflects Alameda Residents' Input

90% of the Alamedans surveyed in the Envisioning Alameda Point Survey agreed that Alameda Point should be used as a model for other Bay Area communities in terms of green/sustainable development. This is why this section now is titled “Create a Model of Sustainability” as opposed to “Protect Our Environment”.

95% agreed that Alameda Point should have as neutral an impact on the environment as possible. So instead of saying that Alameda Point must create a “positive environmental impact”, the new vision says a “neutral environmental impact”.

In addition, 35% of survey respondents put the environment in their Top 5 priorities for Alameda Point-- the fourth highest of 27 choices behind housing, transportation and open space.
