Minimize the Impact of Traffic on Alameda's Current and Future Residents

How the Vision Reflects Alameda Residents' Input

The new Alameda Point Vision includes a new section on the need for safe streets to encourage walking, biking and accessibility by people with disabilities, children and senior citizens which can be achieved through the design of streets. This reflects the view of 94.88% of the Alamedans surveyed in the Envisioning Alameda Point Survey who agreed that “the design of Alameda Point should encourage walking and biking as a part of daily life and accessibility for persons with disabilities”.

It also reflects the survey in which 67.4% thought that strong medians between pedestrian paths and roadways should definitely be built at Alameda Point. 34.8% thought that landscaped medians like this should definitely be included in the street design at Alameda Point, and 43.5% said that this should possibly be done:

As one Alamedan pointed out, “Some open space in the center of the road is very appealing.”
